2025 Writing Festival Schedule (Updated as of April 11, 2025)

Normandale Community College has announced an update to the Writing Festival event, and will welcome award-winning author Peter Geye to give a keynote talk as part of the 15th annual Normandale Writing Festival on Wednesday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The free daylong event features hourly presentation between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. around campus. Geye’s keynote address will take place at 12 p.m. in the Kopp Student Center Garden Room.

Geye will have a conversation with Normandale English Instructor and author Lynette Reini-Grandell. As a novelist, teacher, and author of award-winning books, Geye will share his story, discuss the art of creative writing, and read excerpts from his latest novel, A Lesser Light.

Normandale instructors and published authors will be featured during the Writing Festival, as they conduct hourly sessions during the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. timeframe. Sample topics include “Pathways to Publishing”, “Write now: Interactive Prose Poetry”, “Murder! Victims, Victors, and Violence in Art and Myth”, “The Mythic Imagination of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby”, and many more.

The final schedule of session will be available as we get closer to the Writing Festival at normandale.edu/2025writingfestival. The Writing Festival is cross-curricular, including professional, literary, and creative modes of writing.
