Dietetic Technology Program Accreditation.
The Dietetic Technology Program has been accreditated by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 312-899-0040 x5400.
Associate in Applied Science Degree in Dietetic Technology
The Dietetic Technician is a trained food and nutrition professional who plays a key role in providing quality, cost-effective nutrition care and food service management. Graduates are prepared to work in partnership with a Registered Dietitian in a variety of settings such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, community health programs, food companies and wellness centers.
The curriculum is based on the CADE 2002 Eligibility Requirements and Accreditation Standards. The specialized curriculum consists of ten courses totaling 32 credits, plus completion of a Serv-Safe Sanitation Certificate course. The Fast-Track program allows students to complete the specialized courses in one year as a full-time student or two years as a part-time student. The program director can individualize plans for students with special concerns.
After successfully completing the graduation requirements for the AAS degree, the student will receive a Verification Statement and is eligible to write the Registration Examination for Dietetic Technicians given by Commission on Dietetic Registrations (CDR). Successful completion of this exam allows you to use the credential, Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR).
Goals of the Normandale Community College Dietetic Technology program
1. The program will prepare graduates who are qualified to succeed as entry level DTR's or
to continue their education in a Baccalaureate Program in Dietetics or related field.
2. The program will enroll qualified Dietetic Technician students who represent the cultural
and demographic diversity of the college and community.
3. The program will promote professionalism and community service.

Lab Coat, Misc.: Approximately $40.00
Student memberships ADA: $43.00 (recommended)
Attendance at meetings: $50 - $100
Application Process
1. Applicants new to Normandale will complete the Normandale Community College general application form and include $20 application fee, indicate "Dietetic Technology" as your preference.
2. Submit the completed Dietetic Technology Application to the Health Science Enrollment Manager, Betty Blazer. Completed applications for this "fast track" program will be accepted beginning October 1 through June 15 for the next year's class.

The Dietetic Technology program offers the Specialized Career Program courses as a one-year curriculum. Students desiring to enter the program must have completed the Liberal Arts and Science requirement as listed below.
