Reciprocity & Residency Student Admissions
Reciprocity & Residency Student Admissions
Resident status is extended to:
- migrant farm workers
- Minnesota residents who can demonstrate temporary absence from Minnesota during which residency was not established elsewhere
- North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin students who have been approved for reciprocity.
Reciprocity forms are available by accessing the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office website. Instructions will include information about contacting higher education agencies in your home state.
To be considered a Minnesota resident and pay resident fees, an applicant must have established a domicile in Minnesota for at least one calendar year prior to the date of application. Domicile is defined as a person's true, fixed and permanent living place, established for purposes beyond that of attending college. Applicants need to demonstrate permanent United States residency.
A dependent applicant is considered a resident if the applicant's parent or legal guardian resides (has established domicile) in Minnesota at the time the student applies.
