General Programs: Associate of Arts Degree with Emphasis

The Associate in Arts in Liberal Education is primarily focused on General Education, whereas students may also declare an Emphasis Area in the Associate in Arts Degree program. The AA with Emphasis in a particular area of study permits students to concentrate coursework from a certain department or academic area to deepen their understanding of the academic area or related topics of interest. The emphasis areas have also been created to match the first two years of required coursework in the corresponding baccalaureate major at several public and private four-year colleges and universities. Students are encouraged to meet with a college counselor to discuss their academic plans.
