When you sign up for a concurrent enrollment class at your high school, you are taking a Normandale Community College course. You become a Normandale student, earning high school and college credit at the same time.
Courses are taught by Normandale-approved high school teachers. Our instructors work with your teachers to ensure the courses are the same as you would take at Normandale. You’ll work with the same curriculum, assignments, and assessment methods as on-campus students.
Course tuition and associated materials are free. Credits earned through the program transfer to Normandale, as well as many other colleges and universities.
Minnesota public colleges and universities work together to make transferring between schools as easy as possible. To do this, we use a program called the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC).

You must qualify to take a concurrent enrollment course. Your class rank, test score, and/or GPA will be evaluated. You will also take one or more placement tests. Standards vary by class year.

Sign up for concurrent enrollment courses as part of your regular high school registration. Discuss your class choices with your guidance counselor before registration.
There is no cost to Minnesota students for concurrent courses. Families have saved more than $71 million in tuition through concurrent courses.
Participation in concurrent enrollment is the start of your college experience. Credit is earned by performance and participation throughout the course. Final course grades are entered on your college transcript.
This differs from Advanced Placement (AP) courses, where credit is earned by examination and no record is kept if classes are not passed.
All concurrent enrollment grades are posted to an official college transcript, and a college GPA is established. This transcript becomes part of your college record. Final grades also will appear on your high school transcript.
Yes. You can drop a class, removing it from your academic record. After the drop deadline, you may withdraw from a course before the withdrawal deadline. A "W" grade will appear on your college transcript. This will not affect your college GPA.

Normandale partners with many area high schools to offer concurrent enrollment courses. Current partnership schools include:
Courses offered may vary by school. They generally include education, English, math, music, sociology, health, exercise science, and business. Talk with your high school counselor about which courses we offer at your school.
If your school is not on the list, consider one of the other online or on-campus options offered to high school students — Post-Secondary Enrollment Option or Summer High School Enrollment.
Qualified Minnesota high school students can take on campus or online college courses through the state's Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) program.
High school students entering 11th and 12th grades can take classes on campus or online during the summer when PSEO is not offered.
