Normandale Community College celebrated its graduates at the 2024 Commencement Ceremony at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, Minn.
Approximately 400 graduates participated in the ceremony, which honored summer 2023 and fall 2023 graduates, along with candidates for spring 2024 graduation.
Student Senate President and Politics and Law Club Hope Durenberger was this year's student speaker and Lali Williams was the alumni speaker. Williams is the recent past president of the Minnesota Dental Hygienists Association, with her tenure just ending in April. She graduated from Normandale with her Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2019.
This year's Distinguished Faculty Award went to Nursing instructor Kari Garin and the Staff Member of Distinction went to Student Life Involvement Coordinator Genna Lawler.
Other ceremony highlights included last year’s Distinguished Faculty Award Winner Dr. Willie Johnson and President of the Faculty Association Alvaro Marmolejo Davis speaking at the event.
