Normandale Community College is projecting approximately 15% growth in the number of students from Spring 2024 to Spring 2025. Normandale also had an approximate growth of 15% from Fall 2023 to Fall 2024.
With the levels the College is seeing from fall 2024 and spring 2025, Normandale’s enrollment numbers are approaching some of the highest levels in the college’s history.
As a community college, Normandale has worked hard to become a trusted community resource that can answer key questions about important higher education topics including, but not limited to latest changes to the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid), North Star Promise, general financial aid questions, student resources, and many other key topics that students need to know about as they prepare for college. This helps prepare students for success at Normandale, or any other college they may attend during their educational journey.
"At Normandale Community College, we recognize the complexities of navigating the college selection and preparation process, and we strive to create an equitable, transparent, and accessible experience that meets the unique needs of each student,” said Dean of Recruitment and Outreach Charles Frame. “As a proud “Student Ready” institution, we go beyond readiness for students—we prepare to meet them where they are, providing robust resources, personalized support, and a welcoming community that prioritizes their success and well-being. Our mission is not just to open doors but to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”
This past year, Normandale hosted Open House events, Financial Aid Completion sessions, and other outreach initiatives to help familiarize students and families with the many of the processes that go into preparing for college. These sessions are aimed at providing future Normandale students, friends and family of students, and community members with key information about how process of getting started as a college student.
Normandale will host an Admissions and Financial Aid Completion event on Tuesday, February 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. You can find out more by going to normandale.edu/workshop.
In 2022, Normandale embarked on a new strategic framework that focused on being a more student-ready college in a number of ways.
The College focused on the whole student by increasing efforts to provide key resources in its Tutoring Center and Computer Lab, the expanded Campus Cupboard, Student Resource Center, and by distributing laptops and other key academic technology needs to students.
It also restructured its student services in a variety of ways to provide high touch services to help make the on-ramp into college a smoother process, as well as revamping the structure and processes for its Advising, Counseling and Career Center.
“The landscape of higher education is rapidly changing, especially around state and federal financial aid, and we must continue to enhance outreach initiatives that educate prospective students and their families on these processes and policies so they can make informed decisions about their education,” said Frame. “We demonstrate our commitment to serving as a community resource for the great Bloomington and Twin Cities area by providing everyone with access to our financial aid experts and essential information about financing higher education.”
