Frequently Asked Tutoring Questions
Normandale has tutors for many courses through peer tutoring and the writing center. We also support tutoring with tutor.com, which supports dozens of courses. If you are still not seeing availability, we encourage you to reach out to your professor for their office hours or form an in-person or online study group.
For tutoring appointments, please book a maximum of one 30-minute tutoring session per day, per tutor. For writing appointments, please book a maximum of two 30-minute sessions per day, per tutor. We reserve the right to cancel extra appointments if space is needed for other students.
Students may work longer with a tutor if the tutor is free in the time block after their appointment and if both parties wish to continue.
Tutor.com is available by logging into D2L and clicking on the "resource" tab at the top of the page. Scroll down to Tutor.com. Each student has 15 hours for the academic year.
- For all sessions: bring with you a copy of the assignment, any notes, a textbook, or feedback from your instructor. Attempt any problems you can or bring ideas with you to the session.
- Online sessions: students will receive a zoom link to their student email. Click on the link at the start of the session. If possible, please join the session in a quiet environment wearing headphones with a microphone.
- In person sessions: The Tutoring and Writing Center is located on the second floor of college services in room 2190. Please come 5-10 minutes before your assigned tutoring or writing center appointment time and check in at the front desk.
